Youjiang Medical University for Nationalities(YMUN)is located in Baise, the central and foremost city in the western part of Guangxi, China, bordering Yunnan on the west, Guizhou on the north, Nanning on the east, and Vietnam on the south. Baise is 70km away from Bama, a village renowned for its high number of centenarians, and 150km away from Detian Waterfall, Asia's largest transnational waterfall. It's a popular tourist city in China and an official National Garden city with a forestcoverage rate of 67.37%.YMUN is a university under the administration of Guangxi,providing undergraduate, postgraduate, international education and continuing education. It's the biggest public medical school, medical high education center, and clinical and scientific research center among the three provinces.
Established in 1958, YMUN consists of 13 schools(Basic Medicine, Clinical Medicine, Public Health and Management, Pharmacy, Laboratory Medicine, Medical Imaging,Postgraduate Education, Nursing, Languages and Cultures, Continuing Education,Marxism, Stomatology, and General Medicine)and 1 departments(PhysicalEducation).There are nearly 30,000 students with 24 different majors for associate's degrees, bachelor's degrees, and master's degrees.
The university has two campuses, covering a total area of 1.12 million square meters, and it has advanced facilities for teaching and scientific research. The library housesan extensive collection of books, and the school is fully covered by an internetnetwork providing access to valuable online resources such as a student self-learning platform. A simulated hospital with complete functions, a clinical skills training center, and a national standardized training base for resident doctors have been established. The university has 1 direct affiliated hospital, 5 indirectly-affiliated hospitals, and 55 teaching practice bases, providing solid foundations for clinical teaching and practice.
In 2000, YMUN was approved to recruit international students. Today, there are nearly 500 international students from more than 20 countries, including the United States, Thailand, and Pakistan. In recent years, our international education teachers have greatly expanded their skills as more than 200 teachers have spent time abroad for further study or academic visits. Taking advantage of the One Belt, One Road strategy and the growing cooperation between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), YMUN will set up an international education platform and strive to open up new possibilities for international education cooperation.
