Founded in April 2007, Guiyang Vocational and Technical College (hereinafter short for “College”) is a full-time, all-around and open institute which was sponsored by Guiyang Municipal People's Government. As one of the TOP 50 public higher vocational colleges on international influence in China in 2016 and 2017, it’s a model vocational college of Guizhou Province and a high-quality institution of provincial level in construction, a major organization of ASEAN-China Rail Transit Education Alliance, and a member of Vocational Education Branch of China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE). In 2018, the “Program of Rail Transportation Skills Training for the Talents from Lancang-Mekong Area”launched by the College is successful enough to get in the International Education Communication Program of National-level.
There are 35 programs offered in the College, such as Urban Rail Transit Vehicles, Electromechanical Integration Technology, Biological Pharmacy Technology, Hospitality Management, Tourism Management, E-Commerce, Accounting, Computer Networking Technology, Architectural Engineering Technology, etc.. The College has more than 10000 higher vocational college students on campus right now.The graduate employment rate has reached over 94% over the years.
The College has 677 members of faculty and staff, including 218 professors and associate professors, 258 members equipped with degrees of doctors and masters, and 364 members being double-professionally-titled teachers.
The College is awarded as an example school in Guizhou Province due to its distinct school-running features of“Servicing the Local, Being Open-minded, Cooperating with Enterprises”. After years of efforts, the College has successively established strategic cooperation with overseas educational institutes, such as Educational Institute of American Hotel & Lodging Association in the US, Canadore College in Canada, Edge Hill University in Britain, Nilai University in Malaysia, Battambang University in Cambodia, Chung Chou University of Science and Technology in Taiwan, Tungnan University in Taiwan, etc.. Apart from that, the College, with the aim of introducing overseas high-quality educational resources, recruiting international students, enhancing the international communication among faculties and students as well as sharing educational resources, has also made all-round and muti-mode attempts to introduce 20 overseas teachers from the US, the UK and Cambodia, and recruit more than 500 international students from 27 countries, such as Laos, India, Singapore, Cambodia, etc.The “Program of Rail Transportation Skills Training for the Talents from Lancang-Mekong Area” launched by the College has trained more than 100 members from Laos and Thailand.
