Weihai Vocational College is a full-time public institution of higher vocational education. It is among the country's first batch of 28 National Exemplary Vocational Colleges and Universities, a National Exemplary Base for Cultivating Highly-skilled Talents, as well as one of the first batch of vocational colleges in Shandong Province approved to undertake the High-level Vocational College Project. The college has won such honors as Outstanding Education Unit in Shandong Province, one of the first batch of Key Exemplary Vocational and Technical Colleges in Shandong Province, Shandong Provincial-level Outstanding Institute of Higher Education in Graduate Employment, National-level Representative School in National Defense Education, one of China's Top 50 (Vocational Colleges and Universities) in Social Contribution as well as Top 50 in Teaching Resources. To meet the demands of local industries and support their development, our college offers 59 majors in higher vocational education, encompassed in 14 categories including equipment manufacturing, electronics and information, finance, business and trade, education, P.E, and pharmaceuticals and health.
The college covers an area of 3048 mu (about 203 hectares), with a floor area of 407,000 square meters. Its fixed assets amount to RMB 1,114 million yuan. It is the only one among China's Universities and Colleges that boasts stretches of seawater on campus amounting to 500,000 square meters. The charming sea-view forms a distinctive feature, helping to create an impressive image for the college. In recent years, the college has increased investment in technology and infrastructure. Having invited domestic and overseas design teams to make overall planning and planning in functional areas in accordance with the AAA scenic site standards, the college has built an Automobile Driving Training Center, an Outward Bound Center, a Tennis court, a baseball court, seaside resort, marine park, Zaochang Café, Chinese Traditional Culture Center, and a Japanese, Korean and Western Restaurant. In combination with the featured landscape, pavilion gardens, leisure walk paths, wooden leisure benches, they contribute to the creation of a modern, garden-like and ecologically friendly campus.
We strive to build our college into a prestigious vocational college both at home and abroad and reach out to the outside world with an open mind, carrying out extensive international cooperation and exchanges. We have established friendly cooperative relations with over 50 universities and colleges from Russia, Ukraine, South Korea, Myanmar, Nepal, Bangladesh, Thailand, Australia and Japan, etc. Cooperative Programs such as teacher exchanges, student exchanges, course (program) exchanges, skill competitions and scientific research forums have been carried out. We have also taken the initiative to send selected students to study or receive practical training abroad while receiving international students and short-term students to study at our college, with a view to cultivate talents with international vision, multiple skills and specialties, and diverse cultural insights.
