Lanzhou University of Technology (LUT) is located in Lanzhou, the provincial capital of Gansu province. Founded in 1919 as Gansu Provincial Technical School, LUT witnessed over a hundread years of development and now has grown to be a top multi-disciplinary university which features solid foundation in Engineering, increasing development in Science Fields and unique characteristics in Liberal Arts.
The total area of the two campuses (Langongping Campus and Pengjiaping Campus) is vast 1.62 million square meters with building area of 1080 thousand square meters. LUT has 20 schools and teaching department. There are 2,309 full-time faculty and staff in the university. It has 5 post-doctoral research stations, 6 level one (national level) doctoral programs, 24 level one master programs. Totally 29,533 students are studying in the university.
LUT is among the first-batch universities authorized to grant Bachelor's degree and Master's degree and the first university to confer PhD degrees in engineering and to set up mobile station for Post-doctoral Research in Engineering in Gansu province. The University has 70 undergraduate programs, 74 master's programs and 28 doctoral programs. It covers 9 disciplines including Engineering, Science, Management, Arts, Law, Education, Medicine, Fine Arts and Economics and has 16 provincial key academic and research programs with Engineering, Material Science and Chemistry ranking the top 1% on ESI inclusion. The university has a national key lab for non-ferrous metals advanced processing and recycling jointly funded by the Ministry of Education and Gansu province and a national-level science park. It has established all-round cooperation relationship with cities within or outside of Gansu province and has set up cooperative relationship with more than 200 business enterprises to carry out business-academic cooperation.
LUT is actively developing international exchanges and cooperation with more than 40 universities of the United States, Russia, Britain, Australia and other countries and housing more than 500 international students from over 40 countries.
